ABSTRACT

Il sonno è un particolare stato dell’organismo vivente che si caratterizza per una sospensione parziale o totale della coscienza e della volontà e che si con trappone allo stato di veglia. In generale il sonno si presenta come uno stato di riposo dell’organismo, dove alcune funzioni rallentano e altre si modificano. Alternandosi con la veglia dà un ritmo ciclico alla vita vegetativa di tutte le specie animali, uomo incluso. Si dorme infatti già durante la gestazione: gli studi sul sonno dei feti hanno dimostrato che durante la gravidanza si alternano fasi di riposo e fasi di attività; esistono dei pattern regolari di alternanza sonno veglia già attorno alla ventesima settimana, e si è visto che nel terzo trimestre il feto presenta anche la distinzione nelle fasi REM e non-REM durante gli stati di sonno

ABSTRACT

The "sleep" is a particular state of the living organism that is characterized by a partial or total suspension of consciousness and will and which is set in a state of wakefulness. In general, sleep appears as a state of rest of the organism, where some functions slow down and others change. Alternating with waking gives a cyclical rhythm to the vegetative life of all animal species, including man. One already sleeps during gestation: studies on the sleep of fetuses have shown that during pregnancy alternate phases of rest and phases of activity; there are regular patterns of alternating sleep waking already around the twentieth week, and it has been seen that in the third trimester the fetus also presents the distinction in the REM and non-REM phases during sleep states.
