Un cesareo è a tutti gli effetti un intervento chirurgico e richiede un processo di recupero e cure speciali per far sì che la ferita si rimargini al meglio. Nella maggior parte dei casi, alla donna che viene dimessa dall’ospedale, non si forniscono le indicazioni necessarie affinché il taglio possa guarire nel modo migliore.
La cicatrice, è inevitabile, si attenua col tempo, ma non sparisce mai del tutto. Prendersene molta cura evita la formazione di cicatrici ipertrofiche, ispessite, cheloidee o atrofiche che oltre al danno estetico possono incidere anche sotto l’aspetto psicologico nella neo-mamma.
